Anti wrinkle Treatment

Wrinkles are lines, creases, or folds in the skin. Dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles are two types of skin wrinkles you need to be aware of.
Dynamic wrinkles are seen with movements of the face during emotion. Facial expressions occur when your brain sends signals to your muscle tissue. The muscle then contracts and causes a movement that often results in skin creasing up with an expression, for example smiling and frowning. Examples of these fine lines include forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet (around your eyes).
Static wrinkles are seen when the face is at rest and not moving. When we are young, we can make facial expressions without permanent lines occurring as our skin just ‘bounces’ back. The older we get or the more we make these expressions, the more ‘damage’ we cause to our skin. This ‘damage’ results in lines and wrinkles that remain even when we are not making the expression. These lines can also be worsened by smoking and sun damage.
Anti-wrinkle treatment can be used to soften these fine lines and wrinkles and even prevent them if treatment is started at an early age. Removing these wrinkles can lead to a more rested and fresh appearance with the best results seen through a combination of these treatments.

Frequently Asked Question
Botulinum toxin is a natural substance derived from a micro-organism which relaxes muscles. It is extremely effective and has been used for over 15 years in the field of medicine.
It works by blocking the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles. This relaxes, or puts the muscle into “hibernation” for around 3 to 4 months, leaving the overlying skin looking less wrinkled and much smoother. It only works on the specific muscles injected, therefore leaving surrounding muscles to function as normal. This allows you to still have some expression and enables all other movements. An expressionless face is not attractive and would look very unnatural.
It can also be used to lift the eyebrows, shape and thin the jawline, and for the treatment of migraine and excessive sweating.
Yes absolutely! It’s an extremely popular form of treatment for both sexes. As men have become more concerned with their appearance in the recent years, there has been a drastic increase in the use of the injections for men.
Yes, it has been widely used since the 1980s and has a very good safety record. When administered by a qualified expert, Botox is a safe and reliable method of smoothing facial lines.
No anaesthetic is needed for these treatments. A very fine needle is used when injecting into the tissues, so the discomfort is very minimal.
First, you will have an initial consultation appointment with your dentist and together you will be able to discuss any concerns you may have. A medical history and consent form will be completed.
At the treatment appointment, a fine needle is used to inject the diluted form of the Botulinum Toxin at specific areas of the face. Each procedure should take around 15-30 minutes.
The treatment gradually takes effect a few days after treatment and reaches maximum effect after 2 weeks. You will need to have regular treatments to maintain your results.
We will take photographs before and after treatment to document your results.
Generally, the injections are free of any serious negative side effects but there can be some tenderness and mild pain around the injection points, though this should subside within 48 hours. On rare occasions, dropping around the eyebrows or eyelids can occur but this would also subside within a few weeks.
The majority of people require no downtime following these procedures and can return to normal activities the same day.
